The announced Painter tool for adding personalised finishing touches to units, with its detailed feature set still to come.

Personalised finishing touches

A developer announcement says Dawn of War IV will ship with a Painter tool that allows players to add personalised finishing touches to the units under their command, so each battlefield can feel uniquely their own. The project’s mechanics inventory calls this feature Army Painter. The official description confirms the customisation purpose, but does not publish the complete interface or the exact options exposed to the player.

The feature belongs to the presentation and army-customisation layer rather than to a combat ability. The source does not say that paint changes unit statistics, faction bonuses, camouflage or battlefield visibility. The safe reading is visual personalisation of units, exactly as the announcement describes it.

A confirmed tool with details deferred

The later multiplayer AMA says the team will share more about Army Painter in future sessions and is excited to show what it can do at launch. That is why this mechanic is placed at the end of the editorial sequence: its existence is published, while its detailed behaviour is still being presented. The page does not turn the promise of future information into a feature list.

No official source used here publishes the palette, decal system, pattern controls, faction restrictions, saved-army format or whether customisation affects any in-game rule. Army Painter is confirmed as a Painter tool for personalised unit finishes; every deeper option and any gameplay effect remain unconfirmed until the publisher documents them.

No cost, build time, hit points, range, damage or squad size here — none of it has been published, by anyone. The game has not shipped and no playable build has produced figures that can be checked. Those rows appear the day the numbers exist.
