Firepower from a safer distance
Deep Silver names Skitarii Rangers in its example of Adeptus Mechanicus ranged synergy. While Ruststalkers lure an enemy into close quarters, the article says that powerful Skitarii Rangers can unleash a storm of firepower from a relatively safe distance. The source presents the Rangers as the ranged half of a combined interaction, not as a complete statement about every battlefield situation.
The publisher’s wider guidance says to keep enemy melee units away from the superior firing line. That fits the Rangers example, but the page does not supply their range, damage, armour, cost, squad size or the exact protection that makes a distance relatively safe. The confirmed role is ranged firepower within the Adeptus Mechanicus technology-and-synergy identity.
Do not infer a universal backline
The Ruststalker example shows one way the source expects the unit to interact: a close-combat lure creates room for ranged fire. It does not say that every enemy will be held in place, that Rangers cannot be reached or that their firepower outperforms all other units.
