Space Marines

Faction

Checked as of · 1 official source · 2 min read

The publisher’s confirmed Space Marines identity, elite-force doctrine and pre-release counterplay guidance.

Elite fighters with reinforcement tools

Deep Silver calls the Space Marines the most iconic faction in the Warhammer 40,000 universe and says that they have been the main faction in previous Dawn of War games. Its description attributes their capabilities to genetic enhancements, power armour and brutal weaponry, presenting them as superhuman defenders of humanity. That is the publisher’s stated identity for this game, not a claim that the faction is automatically the strongest.

The official HOW TO PLAY guidance says Space Marines are elite fighters that will usually win one-on-one encounters, and recommends using that advantage early to harass an opponent. It also says to upgrade units, keep them alive with on-field reinforcements, retreat when necessary, and use fortifications, Reserves and the Thunderhawk Relay to move troops where they are needed. These statements describe the intended tools without supplying the hidden numbers behind them.

The published counterplay and the open questions

Deep Silver’s counterplay block tells opponents to force Space Marines into multiple engagements, stretch their elite forces thin, trade efficiently and deny Resource Points, especially Power. The publisher also says that Space Marine units are expensive and require a lot of Power. Read carefully, this is a doctrine of pressure and resource denial, not a promise that a particular faction or opening will beat them.

No source used for this page publishes unit costs, exact reinforcement values, a launch balance table or a complete production sequence. The confirmed page can therefore explain the elite-fighter identity and the named reinforcement and movement tools, but it cannot responsibly tell a player which build is optimal. Those details remain to be checked after release or when the studio publishes them.

No cost, build time, hit points, range, damage or squad size here — none of it has been published, by anyone. The game has not shipped and no playable build has produced figures that can be checked. Those rows appear the day the numbers exist.

Pages that name only the Space Marines

The publisher does not label its subjects by faction, so this list is derived: it holds every page on this site where the Space Marines are the only faction named. ⛔ It is not the publisher’s roster, and it is deliberately shorter than one.
