Structures from Orbit

The published Space Marines deployment rule: structures can land within vision, with distance affecting deployment time.

A Space Marines deployment method

The multiplayer AMA says that Space Marines structures can be dropped from orbit anywhere within vision. It also says that deployment takes longer the farther the structure is from headquarters. This is a named subject in the site’s mechanics inventory, but the source presents it as a rule description rather than a capitalized in-game proper name. The page keeps the editorial label clear so it does not imply a name the developer did not publish.

The same answer warns that enemy players can see where structures will be deployed. That adds a visible commitment to the orbital drop: the player chooses a location within vision, distance affects the arrival time, and the opponent can react to the announced destination. The rule connects Space Marines mobility with warning and exposure rather than making every deployment instantaneous.

Distance, vision and counterplay

The official description supports a simple strategic tension. A distant drop can reach a remote part of the map, but the source says it takes longer; a nearby drop arrives sooner, but may not solve a distant problem. Because the opponent can see the deployment area, the choice also creates an opportunity to contest or punish the landing. These are the published relationships, not a claim that one distance is always best.

The AMA does not publish the deployment time curve, the full list of structures that can be dropped, the exact vision rules or the damage and interruption rules while a structure is arriving. It also does not state that every Space Marines structure is always available from orbit. The confirmed page therefore stops at the rule the source actually states and leaves exact timing unconfirmed.

No cost, build time, hit points, range, damage or squad size here — none of it has been published, by anyone. The game has not shipped and no playable build has produced figures that can be checked. Those rows appear the day the numbers exist.
