Dark Angels

Faction

Checked as of · 1 official source · 2 min read

The Dark Angels’ confirmed status as a playable sub-faction, their published campaign context and the limits of the available doctrine.

A playable Space Marines sub-faction

Deep Silver describes the Dark Angels as a powerful, independent Chapter of the Space Marines and explicitly calls them a playable sub-faction in Dawn of War IV. That wording is important: the publisher’s page presents four mechanically distinct factions and separately describes the Dark Angels as a sub-faction. This site therefore does not turn the Dark Angels into a fifth independent faction simply because they have their own block and named units.

The same official page says that, during the Space Marines campaign, players will undertake missions in command of both the Blood Ravens and the Dark Angels. The statement confirms the campaign relationship and the playable sub-faction status. It does not by itself establish every multiplayer rule, roster difference or commander choice, so those subjects are kept separate until a source names them.

Published doctrine and what is still open

Deep Silver presents the Dark Angels with the Space Marines’ elite-fighter guidance: use the early one-on-one advantage, keep units alive through on-field reinforcement and retreat when necessary, then use fortifications, Reserves and the Thunderhawk Relay to cover a wide battlefield. Its counterplay guidance is likewise the Space Marines guidance: create several engagements, trade efficiently and deny Power. The page reports those statements without pretending that the studio has published a separate Dark Angels balance sheet.

The source does not provide a complete Dark Angels technology tree, production order, cost table or confirmed multiplayer roster distinction. The reliable pre-release conclusion is narrower and more useful: Dark Angels are a playable Space Marines sub-faction, they appear in the Space Marines campaign, and the public page gives them the same broad elite-force guidance. Any claim about a guaranteed matchup or a fifth faction would go beyond the source.

No cost, build time, hit points, range, damage or squad size here — none of it has been published, by anyone. The game has not shipped and no playable build has produced figures that can be checked. Those rows appear the day the numbers exist.

Pages that name only the Dark Angels

The publisher does not label its subjects by faction, so this list is derived: it holds every page on this site where the Dark Angels are the only faction named. ⛔ It is not the publisher’s roster, and it is deliberately shorter than one.

  • Deathwing

The named Dark Angels elite unit described as a slow, punishing tactical advantage in the campaign.

  • Ravenwing

The named Dark Angels elite unit associated with bikes and devastating hit-and-run tactics in the official story material.
