Dark Angels vs Orks

Matchup

Checked as of · 1 official source · 2 min read

A conditional synthesis of the Dark Angels’ elite pressure doctrine against the Orks’ numbers, bases and aggression.

Elite engagements against the Waaagh! pressure

Deep Silver’s Dark Angels block uses the Space Marines guidance: use elite one-on-one fighters to harass early, keep units alive through reinforcement and Retreat, and move forces with fortifications, Reserves and the Thunderhawk Relay. The Ork guidance says to maintain relentless aggression and overwhelming numbers, spread bases and strongholds, and use free Ork Stratagems. Its counterplay block says to punish reckless advances and exploit openings.

The two doctrines suggest a conditional tension. Dark Angels want to turn their elite quality and movement into several engagements, while Orks want to stretch the battlefield with numbers and pressure until the elite force cannot answer every threat. The publisher’s own Ork counterplay language makes exposed aggression and armed-but-easy-to-destroy buildings the places to watch, but it does not prove that the Dark Angels can reach them safely.

Condition and no winner declared

Condition: this is an unconfirmed pre-release synthesis assuming the Dark Angels sub-faction and Orks are available in the same mode and their published roles remain unchanged. Under that condition, Dark Angels pressure would try to force multiple engagements and deny the Ork base room to expand, while Orks would try to keep the attack continuous, add numbers and punish isolated elite units.

No source supplies the costs, population rules, map layouts, damage values or balance results needed for a verdict. The page does not call either faction best, does not offer a tier position and does not establish a selectable launch matchup. It is a dated reading of two official doctrine blocks, with its condition stated.
