The returning horde-like mode with increasingly deadly enemy waves, character progression and equipment unlocks.
A fight for survival
An official developer update says Last Stand is returning in Dawn of War IV. It describes the mode as horde-like, with increasingly deadly waves of enemies in a frantic fight for survival designed to push player skills to their limits. That is the confirmed mode identity: survival against escalating waves, not a headquarters race or a Strategic Positions score.
The same announcement says players level up characters and unlock new skills and equipment to stay ahead of the threat. Those progression elements are part of the published mode description. The source does not publish the wave count, enemy roster, map list, character limits or the exact conditions for completing a run.
No wave-by-wave guide yet
The official text does not identify the first wave, the final wave, the difficulty curve, the rewards or the best character combination. It also does not say how Last Stand differs in solo and cooperative play beyond the broader announcement that modes support co-op. A pre-release page cannot turn the horde description into a guaranteed survival route.
The reliable summary is the mode’s purpose and progression: Last Stand returns as a survival fight against increasingly deadly waves, with characters that can level up and unlock skills and equipment. Exact waves, builds, counters and completion requirements remain unconfirmed.
