On-Field Reinforcement

Mechanic · Necrons

The confirmed reinforcement tool for extending a unit’s life in the field and buying time to hold a position.

Commit resources without returning home

The multiplayer AMA calls On-Field Reinforcement a flexible tool that lets a player commit resources to extend the longevity of units. The developer gives two uses: tip the scales in a fight or buy time to reinforce a position. This confirms the mechanic as an investment made while a force is already in the field, not simply a replacement queue that requires the unit to disappear from the action.

The source says the tool is especially useful for keeping units in a fighting state in the field, but that it has a more limited effect in combat. The Necrons’ unique variant is identified as an exception. That qualification matters: the mechanic’s purpose is preservation and continued presence, but its exact strength depends on the faction and the situation.

Longevity is not the same as invulnerability

On-Field Reinforcement fits the AMA’s wider group of tools for preserving forces and their experience, alongside cover and Retreat. It can buy time or prolong a formation, but the developer does not say that it makes a unit safe in active combat. The published description supports a timing decision, not a claim that reinforcements should always be committed immediately.

No source used here publishes the resource cost, the rate of reinforcement, the exact limit during combat or the complete faction-by-faction exception list. Those numbers would determine the best use in a real match and are not yet available. This page confirms the tool’s purpose and its stated Necron exception while leaving the value of each timing decision unconfirmed.

No cost, build time, hit points, range, damage or squad size here — none of it has been published, by anyone. The game has not shipped and no playable build has produced figures that can be checked. Those rows appear the day the numbers exist.
