Adeptus Mechanicus vs Necrons
Matchup
Checked as of · 1 official source · 2 min read
A conditional synthesis of the Adeptus Mechanicus Noosphere doctrine and the Necrons’ Power Matrix guidance before release.
Network against Matrix
The publisher tells the Adeptus Mechanicus to build a strong Noosphere Network, expand it to key resource points and keep enemy melee units away from the firing line. For Necrons, Deep Silver says to advance the Power Matrix methodically, fight within it for additional bonuses and use translocation to offset slow movement. Its counterplay guidance says opponents should try to fight outside the Matrix and engage powerful ranged units.
The doctrine synthesis is therefore about where the fight happens. Adeptus Mechanicus wants a connected firing line and key points; Necrons want the Matrix to expand and to turn their own territory into the safer place to take an engagement. A possible pressure line is to contest network or Matrix positions, but the source does not publish a verified order in which either side must do so.
Condition and open outcome
Condition: this is an unconfirmed pre-release synthesis that assumes both territory systems work as published and that the matchup is available without later balance changes. Under that condition, an Adeptus Mechanicus plan would try to preserve ranged distance and network access, while a Necron plan would try to make the Power Matrix the place where the decisive fight occurs and use movement tools when the battlefield shifts.
No official source gives the Matrix values, Noosphere values, ranges, costs or a played result between these factions. The page does not say one army is better, does not create a tier ranking and does not prove that the pair is a selectable launch matchup. It records the two doctrines as checked on 2026-08-21.
