Necrons vs Orks

Matchup

Checked as of · 1 official source · 2 min read

A conditional synthesis of the Necrons’ Power Matrix and recovery doctrine against the Orks’ pressure and numbers.

Matrix territory against relentless pressure

The Necron guidance says to advance the Power Matrix methodically, fight within it for additional bonuses, use translocation to offset slow movement and focus fire to finish units that are too slow to escape. The Ork guidance says to maintain relentless aggression and overwhelming numbers, spread bases, build strongholds and erect Waaagh! Banners. Deep Silver’s Ork counterplay block points to individual and ranged weakness, armed but relatively easy-to-destroy buildings and reckless advances.

The synthesis is a contest over whether the Ork attack can keep the Necrons outside their preferred territory or whether the Matrix can turn a prolonged fight into a resilient Necron engagement. Orks want to widen the front and force decisions before the slow army stabilizes; Necrons want to make the decisive fight happen inside the field and finish damaged units rather than merely wounding them.

Condition and no tier list

Condition: this is an unconfirmed pre-release synthesis assuming the two factions’ published systems are available in the same mode and remain unchanged. Under that condition, the Necron plan would protect and extend the Matrix while using movement tools for distant pressure, while the Ork plan would use numbers, bases and aggression to deny a stable Necron territory line.

The authorities do not publish the resource values, unit costs, Matrix size, Ork production rate or a played result. They do not establish which faction is better or prove that this pair is a selectable launch matchup. This page is a dated conditional interpretation of the two official doctrine blocks, not a guaranteed counter guide.

No cost, build time, hit points, range, damage or squad size here — none of it has been published, by anyone. The game has not shipped and no playable build has produced figures that can be checked. Those rows appear the day the numbers exist.
